Fill in the fields above and click Calculate.

Formulas Used

Credits Remaining = Credits Required − Credits Completed

Completion % = (Credits Completed ÷ Credits Required) × 100

Courses Still Needed = ⌈ Credits Remaining ÷ Avg Hours per Course ⌉

Credits per Month Needed = Credits Remaining ÷ Months Until Renewal

Courses per Month Needed = Credits Remaining ÷ (Avg Hours per Course × Months Until Renewal)

Weeks Between Courses = (Months Until Renewal × 4.345) ÷ Courses Still Needed

Remaining Cost = Credits Remaining × Cost per Credit Hour

Total Projected Cost = Credits Required × Cost per Credit Hour

Assumptions & References

  • 1 month is approximated as 4.345 weeks (365 ÷ 12 ÷ 7).
  • Courses needed is always rounded up to ensure the requirement is fully met.
  • CE credit hours are assumed to equal clock hours (1 credit = 1 hour) unless your licensing board specifies otherwise.
  • Cost estimates are linear projections; bulk discounts, employer reimbursements, or free credits are not factored in.
  • Renewal period requirements vary by profession and jurisdiction — verify totals with your licensing board (e.g., NASBA for CPAs, state bar associations for attorneys, ANCC for nurses).
  • Some professions require credits in specific subject areas (ethics, clinical hours, etc.); this tool tracks total hours only.
  • Reference: IACET (International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training) defines 1 CEU = 10 contact hours of instruction.
